Hey there, fellow adventurers and music lovers! Today, I wanted to share with you a little peek into the tunes that fuel my writing sessions for "Pirates and Witches and Other Obsessions." Because let's be real, what's a good writing session without the perfect playlist to set the mood, am I right?

Now, I gotta admit, most of my brainstorming happens during the outlining phase. That's when I dive deep into the realm of music, scouring Pandora and YouTube for those gems that scream "epic adventure." And boy, do I have a growing collection of tracks that never fail to light the creative fire within me.

So, let's talk Pandora. I'm all about those stations featuring artists like Lindsay Sterling, Adrian Von Zeigler, Hidden Citizens, and Abney Park. Pandora's got this cool feature where you can thumbs up or down songs, helping it tailor your playlist to your vibe. Once I've found my jams, it's off to YouTube to compile the ultimate writing soundtrack.

Now, there I was, binge-watching "The School for Good and Evil" on Netflix, right? Suddenly, this badass scene hits me like a cannonball, and there it is—the perfect song for my queen. Billie Eilish's "You Should See Me in a Crown" starts playing, and bam! Instant inspiration. I usually steer clear of movie soundtracks to avoid getting too influenced, but this one? It just fits too perfectly.

Next up, we've got "Bones" by Sail North. Talk about giving off some serious pirate vibes! It's like a medley of sea shanties revamped for the modern age. Whenever I blast this track, I can practically smell the salty sea air and feel the wind whipping through my hair. Perfect for channeling the breezy charisma of my Steampunk pirate, Captain Travis.

Now, let's switch gears to my Steampunk World. Artists like The Cog Is Dead and Abney Park. Tracks like "Never Go Into The Woods" and "A.I. Stole My Life" by The Cog Is Dead capture that eerie yet thrilling essence of the Steampunk aesthetic. And don't even get me started on Abney Park's "Circus At The End Of The World" and "Airship Pirate." It's like stepping into a world where whimsy and danger collide in the most spectacular way.

Last but not least, we've got Poor Man's Poison with "Providence" and "Feed the Machine." These songs dive deep into themes of social disparity, painting a vivid picture of a world divided by class. And let me tell you, in a Steampunk World, social hierarchy plays a major role in shaping the narrative.

So there you have it! These are just a few of the musical gems that have fueled my writing journey for "Pirates and Witches." I can't wait for you to join me, Mycroft, and Captain Travis on this wild adventure when the book hits online shelves next year. Until then, keep those playlists rockin' and those imaginations soarrrrring! 🏴‍☠️🔮✨
